I am interested in buying a DSLR. I currently have a Nikon FE with a variety of lenses that I share with my dad. Will these lenses be compatible with a DSLR or will I need to buy all-new lenses? Thanks in advance for your help?

Can I buy any of the Canon/Canon compatible lenses available for either/both Full Frame as well as the CMOS Canon DSLR and use it on my Canon EOS300 Film Camera?
Alternatively can I buy the Rebel Xsi DSLR and use my old Canon (film SLR) lenses on it?

I am really wanting to find a good DSLR camera. I need it to be reliable, and pretty well constructed. I am wanting to major in photography, so i would want a very good DSLR camera. What would you recommend for me? I am a beginner btw, so, what would be a good camera?
